The Upper Beat is accessed from Burnfoot Farm or via the gate west of the bridge. The upper limit of EHFS starts where Eggleston Burn joins the river. At this end, you can confidently fish for Salmon, Trout, or Graying. Further downstream, the river has an outstanding Salmon pool and renowned swims. It also has a good head of Trout and Graying. Near the bridge, a waterfall cascades almost 30 feet directly onto the river.
